Community Engagement Catalyst: Content Pillars & Interaction Drivers

Develop content pillars and engagement prompts to foster a thriving community.

The method

Use this prompt framework at the start of a new community or to revitalize an existing one. Define your core content pillars (3-5 topics). Then, brainstorm interaction drivers (questions, polls, challenges) for each to spark conversations.

The prompts

Prompt 1
As a seasoned community manager, I'm launching a new online community centered around [Community Topic, e.g., sustainable living]. My goal is to foster a vibrant and engaged space. First, help me identify 3-5 core content pillars that will consistently attract and retain members. These pillars should be broad enough to encompass a range of related topics but focused enough to maintain relevance. After defining the content pillars, for each pillar, generate 5 distinct interaction drivers – these could be questions, polls, challenges, prompts for sharing experiences, or anything else that encourages active participation and discussion among community members. Present your findings in a clear, organized table format: Content Pillar | Interaction Driver 1 | Interaction Driver 2 | Interaction Driver 3 | Interaction Driver 4 | Interaction Driver 5. The interaction drivers should be diverse and cater to different participation styles (e.g., some easy and quick to respond to, others requiring more thought and effort).
Prompt 2
I want to improve the engagement of my community focused on [Community Topic, e.g., indie game development]. Provide me with 5 fresh and thought-provoking interaction drivers, prompts and conversation starters that would encourage members to actively participate and share their experiences. Structure the prompts in a way that they are easily adaptable to weekly themes and create a sense of anticipation within the community. Categorize the prompts based on the following themes: Sharing Achievements, Seeking Advice, Collaborative Problem-Solving, Creative Challenges, and Open Discussion. For each theme, design a specific prompt that is clear, concise, and directly related to [Community Topic]. Consider incorporating elements of gamification or friendly competition to further boost engagement. For example, under 'Sharing Achievements,' the prompt could be: 'Share a recent milestone you achieved in your game development project this week!'
